pg 4 & 5

As she entered her ultra modern ultra sleek office building, she hoped Jason would be exactly on time as usual. She didn’t want to look silly, loitering around the potted palms near the elevator. Luckily he was an early bird so there were very few other people in the building, which was perfect for her plan.

Although she had never met Jason face to face, she had often seen him around over the past week. His presence in her vicinity never failed to send a little jolt of awareness thru her insides, and today was no exception. She began to feel little prickles on the back of her neck, signaling his arrival. She barely managed not to turn around and watch him coming in, and hurried into the approaching elevator right behind him. All her cocky sureness had fled the minute she had sensed him behind her.

Conveniently, both her hands were full, briefcase in one hand, coffee in the other, giving her the uncomplicated opening she needed to talk to him. “Could you press thirty-five for me please?” Nervousness made her voice husky without trying.

“Sure thing” Jason drawled as he glanced at her absently. His hazel eyes sharpened with interest as he got an eyeful of the delectable picture she presented.

She flashed him her best smile, scrambling for some witty remark, anything halfway intelligent, but although she had rehearsed this scene countless times, faced with this fine specimen of virile masculinity, her brain felt like mush. She hoped her eyes were doing some talking as they roved over his handsome features. Close up his thick springy dark brown hair shone with mahogany highlights. His long lashed eyes were a wicked hazel under thick straight eyebrows. High cheekbones, straight strong nose and a square chin with the slightest dent completed the picture of gorgeous maleness. His full sensual mouth was curved into a friendly arc. His wide muscled shoulders nicely filled out his elegant sporting jacket, and his long long legs were hugged by well tailored slacks.

Finally she remembered what she had to do. Abruptly she dropped her briefcase, managing to scatter each and every paper it held. “Oh my Goodness!” she groaned on cue, ”How clumsy of me,” and dropped down on her knees to pick up her stuff, making sure the full glory of her cleavage was displayed for his benefit.

As expected, he bent down immediately to help her. She could tell he was laughing at her on the inside. “Don’t worry sweetheart” he soothed “we’ll have everything picked up in no time.”

“Thank you so much” she crooned, gazing into his eyes, “I can’t believe how clumsy I was.”

“Happens to everyone honey” he said reassuringly.

So there they were, on hands and knees, nearly hip to hip or nose to nose, depending on where they were picking up and they still hadn’t even exchanged names. Granted, his gaze was roving over her, generously helping himself to the view. The air in the elevator was getting pretty steamy and the situation called for a decisive manouvre. Either she should lean in and kiss him or… somehow Emma contrived to tip the remainder of her coffee onto Jason’s really expensive looking shirt. (thankfully it was only lukewarm by now).

Jason yelped in dismay. ”what the ….”
